Mega Evolution series
UK release · 3 in stock
3 Mega Evolution cards and products in stock, each photographed front and back as sold and posted from the UK. Release dates, products and chase cards are in our Mega Evolution guide below the stock.
Mega Evolution is the set that opened the Mega Evolution era, led by Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. It reached UK shops on 10 October 2025, two weeks after North America, because of a delivery delay across Europe. It has 188 cards (132 plus 56 secret rares) and is sold in 36-pack booster boxes as well as Elite Trainer Boxes.
Mega Evolution was due out worldwide on 26 September 2025. In August 2025 The Pokémon Company International moved the launch for Europe, the Middle East and Africa to 10 October 2025, citing product delivery problems, while North America kept the September date. If you see 26 September quoted for this set, that is the US date, not the UK one.
This is the first main expansion of the Mega Evolution series, built mostly from the Japanese Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets. Its headline mechanic is the Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: powerful cards that give your opponent three Prize cards when they are Knocked Out. Ultra Rare treatment also reaches Item, Stadium and Pokémon Tool cards for the first time.
| Part of the set | Cards |
|---|---|
| Main set (numbered up to 132) | 132 |
| Illustration Rares | 22 |
| Ultra Rares (Mega ex and Trainers) | 22 |
| Special Illustration Rares | 10 |
| Mega Hyper Rares | 2 |
| Total including secret rares | 188 |
Booster packs hold 10 cards. The Elite Trainer Box came in two versions: Mega Gardevoir (with an Alakazam promo) and Mega Lucario (with a Riolu promo). The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is sold only through Pokémon Center and carries two extra packs. The rest of the line-up was sold through UK hobby shops and high-street retailers. Our guide to Pokémon TCG product types explains each box, and our sealed products show what we have in stock.
The top of the set is two Mega Hyper Rares (numbered 187 and 188), followed by ten Special Illustration Rares. Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex each appear as both a Special Illustration Rare and a Mega Hyper Rare, so collectors chasing a favourite often need two cards rather than one. Our guide to Pokémon card rarities explains the symbols.
Opening for fun
Loose booster packs or a Booster Bundle (6 packs, nothing else) keep it simple. Pick the ETB if you also want sleeves, dice and Energy cards.
Starting to play
An Elite Trainer Box gives you the accessories a new player needs alongside 9 packs. A Build & Battle Box is aimed at prerelease-style 40-card games.
Completing the set
At 188 cards with 56 secret rares, pulling a full set from packs is a long road. Most collectors open some product and then fill the gaps with single cards. Got spares from your openings? Sell us your duplicates.
Keeping it sealed
If you want a sealed box on the shelf, the ETB is the display piece. Keep it out of direct sunlight, somewhere cool and dry, and leave the shrink-wrap on. We do not give investment advice and make no predictions about future prices.
On 10 October 2025. The UK and the rest of Europe got the set two weeks after the US because of a delivery delay.
188 in total: 132 in the numbered main set and 56 secret rares above that number.
Yes. The line-up included a 36-pack Booster Display Box, an Enhanced 36-pack display and an 18-pack display. Specialist hobby shops are the usual UK source for displays.

The next main set was Phantasmal Flames, released in the UK on 14 November 2025. See every upcoming date on our UK release calendar.
