Pokémon card grading cost calculator (UK)

Published · Updated · Fees read

Choose a grader and service, say how many cards you are sending, and the calculator itemises the grading fee, postage and any import charges our guides establish. Every fee is the figure we read on the grader’s own site on 16 October 2026, with its source. Graders change prices and pause tiers often, so check their page before you pay. It does not say whether grading will pay off.

Your submission

Fees per card, as published. Pick “my own quote” if your tier is not listed.

In the grader’s currency: £ for ACE and CGC, US$ for PSA, Beckett US and TAG, € for Beckett Europe. Only used to check the tier’s published limit.

Postage, exchange rate and your own figures

Needed for “my own quote” and for a dealer’s price. In pounds for a UK dealer or CGC and ACE, in US dollars for the other graders.

Colour Match £1 a card, ACE Label £3 a card on some cards.

The Fanatics store at 54 Regent Street, London W1B 4DY. CGC says this saves the outbound postage.

Online prices for one parcel, from 5 October 2026. Heavier parcels cost more.

Used instead of the service above. Enter your international postage here for the US or Europe.

CGC London’s published rates are added for you. For anyone else, enter the figure from the grader’s checkout.

For fees in US dollars or euros. Use the rate your bank or card gives you; we do not supply one.

Cards coming back from the US or Europe

Royal Mail £8 or Parcelforce £12 customs handling fee; a courier sets its own.

GOV.UK says goods over £135 pay VAT to the delivery company. Over £900, Royal Mail lists a £25 handling fee for a full customs declaration.

We do not calculate this: the delivery company sets the bill. Add your own figure if you have one.

Your estimate: PSA Standard, 2 cards

Total in pounds

Needs your exchange rate. The US dollars fee comes to US$119.98.

Quoted turnaround: 90–100 business days. An estimate, not a guarantee, and it leaves out postage time.

Not included in the total

  • The US dollar fee in pounds: enter the exchange rate your bank or card gives you to add it.
  • Postage to the grader abroad (enter your own figure; our guides give no international price).
  • PSA return shipping to the UK (charged by the grader; our guides give no amount: enter your own figure).
  • Import VAT and any Customs Duty. GOV.UK says goods over £135 pay VAT to the delivery company, and duty can apply. The delivery company sets the bill, so we do not calculate it: enter your own estimate to include it.
  • The carrier’s customs handling fee (£8 Royal Mail, £12 Parcelforce): choose the carrier to include it.

Open “Postage, exchange rate and your own figures” above, add what you know, and calculate again.

Notes on this estimate (5)
  • We have not found HMRC guidance saying that grading counts as processing or repair for outward processing relief, so no relief is assumed. Ask your grader or submission service how the return will be declared and who pays any charges.
  • If PSA decides after grading that a card is worth more than its tier’s maximum insured value, it moves that card up a tier and charges the difference. Its terms let it charge up to $500 a card (or a lower amount shown at checkout) without asking again. If you understate a card’s value and then will not pay for the correct tier, the card can be returned ungraded at your cost and you still pay for the tier you chose.
  • PSA’s cheaper Value and Value Bulk tiers were shown as temporarily paused on 16 October 2026, so they are not listed.
  • PSA does not insure parcels on their way to it. Insure the outbound parcel yourself.
  • PSA charges return shipping to the UK when your order is complete. Our guides give no amount, so enter your own figure to include it.

Fees as at 16 October 2026. Graders change prices and pause tiers often: confirm every figure on the grader’s page before you pay. The address of this page holds your choices, so you can bookmark it or send it to someone.

What does the grading cost calculator include?

The estimate adds up the pieces of a UK submission that have a published figure. Each line shows where its number came from, and whether it is a published fee or one you entered.

What does the calculator leave out?

It leaves out anything the grader’s pages and our guides give no number for, rather than guess. That means import VAT and Customs Duty (the delivery company sets the bill), return shipping from PSA, Beckett and TAG, ACE’s return postage and a group-submission dealer’s own price. Each appears in a “not included” list, with a box to add your own figure.

What is the declared value for?

Graders set a maximum value per card for each tier (PSA calls it the maximum insured value). If you enter the highest value you would declare for one card, the calculator checks it against the tier’s published maximum and names the cheapest open tier that covers it. That is the grader’s fee rule, not a valuation: PSA, for example, moves a card up a tier and charges the difference if it decides the card is worth more than the tier allows.

Which route is cheapest?

That depends on your cards, not on the calculator. ACE (England) and CGC’s London office bill in pounds and avoid customs. PSA, Beckett and TAG mean sending cards to the US or Europe, where fees are in dollars or euros and the return is an import. Our PSA vs CGC vs BGS vs ACE comparison sets the services side by side, and PSA grading from the UK covers the two ways to reach PSA.

How up to date are the fees?

Fees were read from each grader’s own site on 16 October 2026. The calculator tells you how old they are every time you use it, and says so more firmly once they are several weeks old. Graders pause and reopen tiers without notice: PSA’s Value tiers were paused, and several of Beckett’s US tiers were sold out, when we last looked.

Questions people ask

How much does it cost to grade a Pokémon card in the UK?

On 16 October 2026 the fee started at £18 a card for ACE Basic and £19 including VAT for CGC London Economy. Postage both ways and any import charges come on top, and postage is per parcel, so one card sent alone costs far more per card than five. The calculator itemises it.

Why does the cost per card fall when I send more cards?

Postage is charged per parcel, not per card. In the worked example in our grading checklist, five cards to CGC London came to about £29 each, while one card sent alone came to about £67. Try 1 and then 5 cards in the calculator to see the gap.

Does the calculator include import VAT on cards graded in the US?

It does not work out the amount. GOV.UK says goods over £135 pay VAT to the delivery company and Customs Duty can apply, but the bill comes from the carrier. The calculator adds Royal Mail’s £8 or Parcelforce’s £12 handling fee if you pick a carrier, and lets you enter your own import estimate.

Is a tier’s maximum value what my card is worth?

No. It is the most the grader lets you declare for one card on that tier, and it decides the fee you pay. It is not a valuation, and the calculator never estimates one.

Are these fees up to date?

They are the figures we read on each grader’s own site on 16 October 2026. Graders change prices and pause tiers often, so check the grader’s page before you pay. The calculator shows how old its figures are each time you use it.

Does the calculator tell me whether grading is worth it?

No. It prices the service only. Whether grading pays off depends on what graded and raw copies of your card actually sell for, which is outside this tool. Our grading checklist walks through that comparison without guessing at prices.
